KACTC Student Advances to National SkillsUSA Competition

Lane Tubby, a second-year Automotive student at the Kosciusko-Attala Career and Technical Center and student at Ethel High School, has earned top recognition at the state level by placing second in the Motorcycle Repair competition at the SkillsUSA State Conference. This achievement qualifies Lane to compete at the SkillsUSA National Championships.

The Motorcycle Repair competition requires students to demonstrate advanced technical knowledge and hands-on skills, including diagnosing, troubleshooting, and repairing mechanical issues. Lane competed against top career and technical students from across Mississippi, showcasing precision, problem-solving ability, and industry-level competence.

Under the guidance of Automotive Instructor Alex Blanton, Lane has developed a strong foundation in automotive and small engine repair. Mr. Blanton praised Lane’s dedication and work ethic, stating, “This is a great accomplishment. Competing at the state level takes skill, focus, and determination, and placing second shows just how capable Lane is.”

SkillsUSA is a national organization dedicated to preparing students to become skilled professionals, career-ready leaders, and responsible community members. The annual competition highlights the talents of students enrolled in career and technical education programs across the country.

Lane’s achievement reflects both his individual commitment and the strength of KACTC’s Automotive program.
