Health Science I & II students at the Kosciusko-Attala Career Tech Center recently had the opportunity to spend the day with Dr. Ty McGee, a proud graduate of Kosciusko High School who is currently completing his Residency in Orthopaedic Surgery at the University of Mississippi Medical Center (UMMC).
Dr. McGee spoke with students about the field of Orthopaedic Surgery, outlining the educational pathway, residency experience, and the daily responsibilities of an orthopaedic surgeon. He also led hands-on activities that provided students with a practical glimpse into procedures and skills commonly used in the specialty.
The interactive experience allowed students to engage directly with a medical professional who once sat in classrooms similar to their own. His willingness to return home and invest in the next generation of healthcare providers made a meaningful impact.
